A Design Concept for Radiation Hardened RADFET Readout System for Space Applications

Instruments for measuring the absorbed dose and rate under radiation exposure, known as dosimeters, are indispensable in space missions. They composed of sensors that generate current or voltage response when exposed to ionizing radiation, processing electronics computing rate. Among a wide range existing sensors, Radiation Sensitive Field Effect Transistors (RADFETs) have unique advantages measurement, proven record successful exploitation It has been shown RADFETs may be also used monitoring. In regard, we propose design concept supports simultaneous operation single RADFET monitor. This enables reduce cost implementation, since need other types can minimized eliminated. For RADFET's readout system analog signal conditioner (ASC) self-adaptive multiprocessing system-on-chip (MPSoC). The soft error MPSoC is monitored real time with embedded allowing autonomous switching between three operating modes (high-performance, de-stress fault-tolerant), according application requirements conditions.
